Dear supporter,

NHS staff are working tirelessly to support the public through this crisis, and so today I am appealing to you for your continued support.

Our amazing staff are currently going above and beyond the call of duty to care for and protect some of the most vulnerable members of society. However we are starting to feel the true impact of this additional and excessive strain on the wider NHS service. Therefore we really do need your support now, more than ever before.

The NHS is at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19 (coronavirus) and our dedicated colleagues – from domestics to doctors, nurses to porters - here at Birmingham Women’s Hospital are doing all they can to care for those most at risk, including the elderly, pregnant women, babies in our neo-natal intensive care unit, and those with underlying health issues.

The teams at our hospital, which has the busiest, single-site maternity unit in the country, are continuing to provide women, babies and families with expert care, whilst navigating the new threat of COVID-19 to its patients and staff.

Can I ask you today, to also go above and beyond for families in our care?

We are so lucky to have the most incredible, loyal and caring supporters here at our hospital. Many of you have spent hours training for races or preparing for fundraising events which have now been cancelled or postponed because of COVID-19. Sadly, this has been necessary in order to protect our supporters and our staff, and attempt to delay the spread of this virus.

But the reality is that our charity is going to feel the impact of this lack of fundraising income, and therefore our ability to support the amazing work undertaken by our staff will suffer as a result.

We have launched our emergency COVID-19 Appeal to support our NHS heroes on the frontline and the patients in our hospital’s care. Today, we are asking for your help.

By donating what you can, or by committing to giving on a regular basis, you can help us to continue our care for those who need us at this critical time, and those who will need us in the future.

Thank you.
