Pregnancy and baby loss is a devastating and uniquely personal experience and for approximately 2,000 families a year at our hospital, it is a heartbreaking and challenging reality.
Ahead of this year’s Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October), we wanted to invite you to join us in making Woodland House a reality, whilst remembering all the precious little lives that have been lost at our hospital.
Thursday 15 October marks this year’s International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day and we will be taking part in the globally-acknowledged Wave of Light celebration by lighting candles on the land where Woodland House will be built. You can join us in commemorating Baby Loss Awareness Week in a number of different ways:
Christmas is a time for celebration and reflection. This Christmas we want to invite you to come together and remember those no longer with us by lighting a light on our Virtual Remembrance Tree.
If you’re interesting in fundraising for our Woodland House Appeal, either during this year’s Baby Loss Awareness Week or at any other point in the year, why not gather your friends, family and colleagues and organise a Woodland Walk?
The statistics around pregnancy and baby loss are shocking, and yet it remains a taboo subject. That’s why we’re asking you to stand with us this Baby Loss Awareness Week, to donate £10, or whatever you can, to our Woodland House Appeal, to help change the experience of our bereaved families.
We have created a special candle, which can be purchased for a donation (minimum of £10), and lit up at home during the Wave of Light celebration on Thursday 15 October. All proceeds go towards our Woodland House Appeal, and to ensure your candle is delivered in time, please place your order no later than Friday 2 October.
